Making Paper

First you soak torn pieces of paper on water, then grind it in the blender, pour it into a vat. It feels very soft and is a semi liquid at this stage. We added calcium carbonate to keep the ph normal, lavender and some dyes including lipstick plant from Kealani which turned a lovely shade of pink. Then we scooped our misquito netting frame through the goo, allowed the water to fall through, then took off the deckle. If you don't do it right you drip water all over your new sheet which is called "papermaker's tears". (We all agreed that is a great title for a book.)....tada! A recycled paper. We stacked them between sheets of flannel and pressed the water our for a few days.
