Sleeping Bear Dunes

The American Indian legend is that the mother bear waited so long on shore for her two missing cubs that she became this huge dune. At first I was disappointed because I thought, "this is it?" a formidable but not legendary dune in my opinion. But after this one was another larger one, and after it another. I walked away from the path, and still nothing but miles of sand and one small tree, sweet peas blooming pink and some grasses. Some hikers from the other direction told us it was another two and a half miles to the lake. The sun burned our feet so much every step was painful. After an hour of toil I had not one glimpse of the Lake. I was completely satisfied. Sometimes it is good to know the world God made is too vast for us.

Lest I turn to sand waiting for Arah and Elijah to finish playing, we started our journey north.
